Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan dies at 53 due to colon infection

The Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has died on Wednesday after being admitted into Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai a week ago due to a colon infection. The 53-year-old actor struggled with intestinal infections. Irfan also had an endocrine tumor, a kind of rare brain cancer, which affecting cells that release hormones into the bloodstream, and he openly spoke about the intense pain and uncertainty of life. Khan was handed over to the cemetery in Versova, Mumbai at 3 pm today. Apart from his two sons Ayan and Babil, only a few family and close friends were present on the occasion. Police did not allow Irrfan’s body to be taken home due to lockdown and coronavirus infection. He was brought straight from the hospital to the cemetery.

Four days ago, on Saturday, Irfan’s 95-year-old mother Saeeda Begum had died in Jaipur. But he could not attend his funeral due to the lockdown. Irfan had last seen his mother through a video call.

Tributes have been pouring in for the actor by sharing his picture, with the “Jurassic World” director, Colin Trevorrow, tweeting: “Deeply sad to have lost #IrrfanKhan. A thoughtful man who found beauty in the world around him, even in pain. In our last correspondence, he asked me to remember “the wonderful aspects of our existence” in the darkest of days. Here he is, laughing.”

Irrfan Khan released a heart touching last voice message before the trailer of his film ‘English Medium’ was released. In this, he had said, ‘Hello! Ladies & Gentlemen, I am Irrfan… I am among you today or not …’ This thing has now come true.

Irrfan was born into a businessman Pathan family in Jaipur. Originally, the family belongs from a village near Tonk. He was also fond of playing cricket, he used to go to play cricket at Chaugan Stadium in Jaipur. He was also selected for the CK Naidu Trophy. Despite this, his family did not allow him to pursue a career in cricket. He then moved away from cricket and joined the theater.

The first stage of Irrfan’s acting was learned by watching the play of his stage artist uncle, Sajid Nisar in Jodhpur. In the early eighties, Irrfan saw the first drama of his life in the town hall of Jodhpur. After this, Irrfan turned to theater and that is why he associated plays with his studies in Jaipur. He started his acting career with Ravindra Manch in Jaipur. He did the first play ‘Jalte Badan’. Later, he joined the National School of Drama from Delhi. Subsequently, Irrfan had established a distinct identity from his performance.

After settling in Mumbai, Irfan always lacked the taste of Rajasthani food. Irrfan used to get all kinds of non-veg in Mumbai, but the taste of indigenous Rajasthani food was not found there. When he came to Rajasthan, he always used to ask for desi food. He always used to demand dal-baati, carr-sangri, gatta vegetable with tempering.
