A newborn baby diagnosed with Coronavirus in the UK becomes world youngest victim of the pandemic

A newborn baby has reportedly been tested positive with coronavirus in London, UK, becoming the world’s youngest victim of Coronavirus, according to a media report.

A day earlier, the newborn’s mother had been rushed to North Middlesex Hospital in the borough of Enfield with suspected pneumonia. The newborn’s mother is believed to have been tested for coronavirus at the hospital but her positive result only emerged after she gave birth.

UK health officials have reportedly the pregnant lady and baby are at low risk from COVID-19 infection and are likely to only endure mild symptoms. Health officials are urgently trying to find out the circumstances behind their infections, whether the infant was infected during birth or whether it was possible the infection was transmitted in the mother’s womb.

They are being treated at separate hospitals in London the mother is now being treated at a specialist facility while her child is being cared for at another hospital.
