Microsoft Rolls Out New System icons To Windows Insider

Microsoft is rolling out the new app icons to all the Windows Insiders on Fast Ring, with new app icons that follow Microsoft’s Fluent Design principles. Microsoft will automatically update the apps to the most recent version which will enable the new icons.

The icons will update on Windows 10 Start Menu, Taskbar, and Splash Screen. Currently, Microsoft is rolling out new icons for Mail and Calendar, Groove Music, Voice Recorder, Calculator, Alarm and Clock, and Movies and TV. We expect other apps will follow shortly, like the Microsoft Store, Camera, Feedback Hub, and more.

Microsoft has struggled to get the way it updates Windows right and users have reported issues after every Windows 10 update. Last year, Microsoft was criticized for forcing feature updates and therefore the company executed a change that gives people authority over whether to install the feature updates.

There are still a lot of apps that haven’t received redesigned icons yet, even though we’ve seen them. Weather, Maps, Camera, Snip & Sketch and many others have already been spotted. They’ve started making their way to the public, though, maybe it won’t be long before more apps follow suit.
