Lifestyle Startup Trell Raises $4 Mn in Pre-Series A Funding

Trell Experiences Pvt. Ltd, which runs a lifestyle community commerce platform, has raised $4 million (approx Rs 29.24 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round by Sequoia Capital India’s Surge, Beijing-headquartered fund Fozun RZ Capital and KTB Network, YourStory reported.

Existing investors Beenext, WEH Ventures, and Sprout Ventures also participated in the round.

The Bengaluru-based company will use the funds to strengthen its Machine Learning, AI efforts, expanding community and penetrate deeper into new Tier II and III markets by adding 10 regional languages by the end of 2020.

“Trell solves for the discovery of lifestyle choices for the next half billion population coming online. It is the largest platform in India growing at 25 per cent month on month with strong engagement metrics. By extending the discovery to transactions, Trell can provide holistic solutions to their consumers.” Krishna Vinjamuri, Executive Director at Fosun RZ Capital, said.

Trell claims with 5 million monthly active users on its app and it has grown 20X in the last 12 months.

It enables Indian users to share and discover personalized recommendations and product reviews across lifestyle interests from skincare and personal grooming, fashion, cooking, wellness, movie and web-show reviews, home decor and travel.

“We actively engage with our influencers through the ‘Trell Creators’ Academy’ program, where currently 25,000 creators are being educated every day to create valuable content, grow their reach, become influencers and eventually solve for the scarcity of regional content,” Pulkit Agrawal, Co-Founder of Trell, said.
