Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday ordered complete lockdown in the state till March 31, except for essential and medical services, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus. All malls, government and private offices, transport facilities and other services will remain closed across the state during the lockdown period.
The Chief Minister’s Office issued a press note late Saturday evening, announcing the lockdown from March 22 to March 31 in order to check the spread of deadly coronavirus.
Mr Gehlot took the decision at a high-level meeting with the top officials to review the current situation in the state amid the rising number of Coronavirus cases.
Gehlot has also directed the officials to ensure the supply of sufficient food items during the lockdown. The people under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) shall get free wheat for two months. All daily wage workers, labourers and needy families, who are out of the NFSA list, shall be given free food packets. This would be done with the help of district administration and municipal corporations, according to the press note.
