Ather Energy, a tech start-up launched the Ather 450X electric scooter in India today with starting price at ₹99,000 (ex-showroom, India). The Ather 450X e-scooter is a more premium version of the Ather 450.
The Ather 450X will be launched across Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune.
The Ather 450X will be offered with two performance variants: Pro and Plus with monthly subscriptions cost of ₹1999 for Pro and ₹1699 for Plus over the base price. The upfront cost for the 450X Pro is priced at ₹1.59 lakh (₹1.45 lakh in Delhi) and 450X Plus priced at ₹1.49 lakh (₹1.35 lakh in Delhi). The prices in Delhi are subject to government subsidies under the EV policy. The existing leasing and financing options are applicable to the new 450X.
The Pro variant will come with all the bells and whistles. This includes the improved battery pack, more powerful motor, increased range and top speed. The Ather 450X Plus, however, offers the exact performance figures as the standard 450 electric scooter already on sale.
The Ather 450X is tipping the scales at 108 kg, the 450X is also 10 kg lighter than regular 450. It is powered by a larger electric motor producing 6kW (about 8bhp) of peak power and 26Nm of torque with a higher lithium-ion battery capacity of 2.9 kWh.
Ather claims that Ather 450X can accelerate from 0-40 kmph in just 3.3 seconds with a range of 85 kmph in Eco mode and 75 km in Ride mode. It also has a higher grade-ability of 20 degrees and is lighter by 4 kg.
The Ather 450X comes with open-source Android-based user interface in place of the Linux system that brings more adaptability with a snapdragon 212 quad-core processor with 1.3GHz, 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage. The dashboard on the Ather 450X now comes with a Dark mode, 4G e-sim for connectivity features and the Bluetooth connectivity feature allows you to receive or cancel incoming calls, over-the-air updates, live location and vehicles status, theft/tow detection, play and change music, while the navigation changes to more precise reading.
Company has introduced 3 colour options: Grey, White and Green. All three colour options will be available on both variants. The Ather 450X is now the fastest scooter in the Indian market, irrespective of whether it is an electric scooter or petrol-powered.
The Ather 450X offers four riding modes; Warp, Sport, Ride and Eco.
The company aims to sell about 30,000 units this year and the new plant promises to reduce the waiting period by a significant margin.
