Hitting back at Rahul Gandhi, BJP said on Sunday that the former Congress President, through his ‘Surender’ jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, called him ‘Lord of the Gods.’

“You say that Narendra Modi is Surender Modi, which means that you say that Modi is not only the king of people but also of gods,” said BJP President J P Nadda, addressing the digital rally.

“In Hinduism, ‘Surender’ or Surendra is ‘Lord of the Gods,’ said Karnataka Minister C T Ravi, referring to Rahul’s ‘surrender’ of Modi.

Rahul ‘s play of words was also countered by Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“Mr Rahul Gandhi, you are so infuriated that you can’t read correctly, and surrender was the hallmark of the Gandhi-Nehru family. Assam was almost given away by Pt Nehru in 1962. When the Chinese army captured Bomdila, Nehru said, ‘My heart goes out to the people of Assam.’ What a pity,” said Sarma, Congressman-turned-BJP leader.
