New Delhi, October 14, 2024 — In a tense day for Indian aviation, an Air India flight en route to Dubai was diverted to Delhi after authorities received a bomb threat. The flight, carrying over 150 passengers, was redirected safely and landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport around noon.

The diversion came just hours after two IndiGo flights, one bound for Muscat and the other for Jeddah, also reported bomb threats. Both flights were grounded before takeoff, and all passengers were safely evacuated. Security teams quickly conducted thorough checks, which confirmed that no explosives were present.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated an investigation into the threats, while the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) ramped up security measures across all major airports in the country.

Air India and IndiGo issued statements reassuring passengers about their safety protocols and expressing gratitude to security personnel for their swift response.

“We take any threat to our flights seriously and will continue to work closely with security agencies to ensure the safety of our passengers and crew,” Air India said in a statement.

IndiGo echoed similar sentiments, highlighting their commitment to maintaining high safety standards and promptly responding to any security concerns.

Passengers on the diverted Air India flight reported a mix of anxiety and relief upon landing in Delhi. “It was frightening at first, but I’m just glad we’re safe,” said one traveller.

Authorities are investigating the origin of the threats and whether they are connected. As a precaution, heightened security measures are being implemented at airports nationwide.

Travellers are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to airport authorities. More updates will follow as the investigation unfolds.
